There are days and times in our lives when everything gets obscure, life becomes challenging, and leading a cheerful life becomes more like a utopian concept and far out of reach. Questions such as; What is my purpose in life? Is what I am doing really worth it? What is success? Is success ever possible for me to achieve, or am I going to die a failure?
These negative questions are not empowering; and, they are not the problem. Giving in to them is the problem! An inclination towards negativity can lead to depression, mental illnesses, and suicidal tendencies. Therefore, rather than trying to revel in the abyss of negativity, learn to motivate yourself and move forward more powerfully! Here are a few tips I recommend in helping to motivate yourself.
No one quite knows you the way you know yourself. The feelings and problems that you are currently going through therefore can’t be judged by anyone else, and no one can help you the way you can help yourself through any challenges. Therefore, self-talk is pivotal to motivate oneself. I strongly promote the use of Affirmations, not as a solution, but in addition to the other components of goal achieving tactics. Telling yourself you are a loser because you made some mistakes, is not going to help your current circumstance.
MATERIALIZATION OF SELF-MADE PLANS
It is essential that you are living up to your potential, and to do that it is necessary that you are following the plans that you had previously charted out to achieve those goals. Materialization of self-made plans can help significantly in getting and keeping someone self-motivated. This was a big reason why I wrote my book “Success with Goals”. Achieving worthy goals is immensely important to self-fulfillment and self-worth, as this leads to increased motivation.
The moment you open your eyes after you have caught up on those “zzz’s", ask yourself important questions such as: “What are the tasks that need to be addressed today? How am I going to go about them? What will I achieve once these tasks get accomplished?” Questions like these are empowering and positive questions that set you on a productive path to what is important today and should lead you towards your key goals. Setting a clear-cut path to your goals by achieving your key tasks today, can be a great motivator.
SUCCESS HACK: You should be asking and reviewing these questions the evening before to ensure that you already know what to be working on the moment you wake up in the morning.
TOUGHEST TO EASIEST
The moment you step towards materialization of the goals you set for yourself, make sure that you jump towards the completion of the toughest ones first. The reason behind such seemingly absurd advice is that it is human nature that we prefer doing the easier work and then procrastinate on the tougher more important work. Thus, it is imperative to ensure that the toughest tasks are completed beforehand. Putting them off, will likely stunt significant progress towards our goals, which then weens motivation, and can give us a false sense of accomplishment.
Always remember, your aim should be to beat YOUR last goal. The more you compare yourself to others, the more likely you can slip into depression and self-loathing, which should never be the state of a healthy mind. So, whenever you review your results, compare them your previous results and not those of others. Your personal scorecard is all that matters, it can be valuable to review other’s successes to keep you excited about the potential, or to use their success as a road map to get started. However, focusing on their results is a recipe for disaster when it comes to having the right mindset about your own accomplishments.
